WHO designates new COVID strain Omicron as ‘variant of concern’
The World Health Organisation has named the new Covid-19 variant 'Omicron' and says it is concerned about its many mutations. This suggests it may pose even more of a risk than the Delta variant. More countries are restricting travel to and from southern Africa, where Omicron was first identified.
