And now for the first time, we know more people died because of it, than governments were reporting. On Thursday, the World Health Organization revealed its first, most comprehensive estimate. It said 14-point-9 million people died in the first 24 months of the pandemic. The W.H.O. says it's a wake up call for all countries to invest in data and their healthcare systems to make them resilient to crises. So what lessons should be learned?
