US COVID: New York to have muted New Year event
As the Omicron and the Delta variants drive the US's coronavirus cases to record daily highs, celebrations for New Year will be curtailed. New York city officials are allowing a mere 15,000 spectators to attend its Times Square celebration, a far cry from the tens of thousands of revellers the event used to attract.
