Switzerland voters approve near-total ban on tobacco advertising

Voters in Switzerland have approved a near-total ban on tobacco advertising despite strong opposition by the government. Those backing the ban hope it will discourage young people from taking up the habit – in a country with one of the highest rates of smoking in Europe.
