Qatar to act as US diplomatic representative in Afghanistan
The United States and Qatar have signed an accord for Qatar to represent US diplomatic interests in Afghanistan. This will be the first time the US will have any form of official representation in Kabul, since its troops left Afghanistan in August. Qatar will oversee the US's consular affairs and protect its embassy in Kabul. The US does not recognise the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Al Jazeera’s Rosiland Jordan reports.
