Party on: New revelations heap pressure on UK PM Boris Johnson

Police in London have opened an investigation into government events held during coronavirus lockdown. The prime minister is under pressure after a series of revelations about rule-breaking gatherings. He has most recently been accused of attending a birthday party organised by his wife during the first lockdown in June 2020. However, the criminal investigation may hand Boris Johnson more time to handle the political fallout, as it will delay the internal government inquiry led by Sue Gray.
