Meta fined $1.3bn over transfer of EU user data to the US
Facebook's parent company Meta has been fined a record $1.3bn for breaching European Union data protection laws.
It has been ordered to stop transatlantic data transfers within five months.
Privacy campaigners fear the data could be exposed to US intelligence agencies. Meta says it has been singled out.
