Lebanon arrests agents suspected of torturing Syrian man to death

Lebanon has arrested five state security agents on suspicion of torturing Syrian detainee Bashar Abdel Saoud to death. It is not the first time the agency has been accused of abuse. The General Directorate of State Security, which accused Bashar of belonging to the ISIL (ISIS) group, has faced multiple allegations of torture. Human rights groups say charges of "terrorism" are usually used against Syrian refugees to explain torture or unlawful lengthy detentions. Bashar’s family says he may have been punished for defecting from the Syrian army during the war. During his detention, no lawyer was present. His family is refusing to bury his body until those responsible are brought to justice. Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr reports from Beirut, Lebanon.
