Latest updates: Deadly blast rocks Zaporizhia ahead of Putin’s annexation announcement
A Russian missile attack targeted a humanitarian convoy in Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region, killing at least 23 people, according to a regional official. Russia is moving to seize Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia after holding annexation votes in the areas. Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid, reporting from the city of Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine’s partially Russian-occupied Zaporizhia region, says the area struck by an alleged Russian missile strike is well known as a major “transit point”.
