Kazakh president sacks cabinet, declares emergency amid unrest



Kazakhstan's president has accepted the government's resignation after protests erupted over high fuel prices. The unrest continued on Wednesday, with reports of gunfire heard near the mayor's office of the nation's biggest city, Almaty. More than 200 people were arrested and nearly 100 officers injured amid the unrest. A two-week state of emergency has been issued in Almaty and in the western Mangistau province, where the demonstrations turned violent.
