‘Journalism under digital siege’: UNESCO hosts conference in Uruguay
UNESCO is hosting the annual World Press Freedom Day Global Conference, under the theme Journalism under Digital Siege, in a hybrid format in Uruguay. Journalists’ safety, the digital era’s impact on freedom of expression and access to information and privacy are being discussed at the conference. Journalists in countries like Myanmar, Mexico and Uganda say it is harder than ever to do their jobs safely, many face violence and persecution.
