Hundreds of political prisoners freed in Myanmar after amnesty

Myanmar's military government has started releasing political prisoners. The amnesty grants freedom to those who took part in the anti-coup demonstrations in April. The release comes as there is increasing pressure on the military leaders to engage with their opponents, nearly nine months after seizing power. But most of the civilian leaders of the deposed government, including Aung San Suu Kyi, have not been released.
