Germany election: SPD’s Scholz to seek coalition with Greens, FDP



Germany’s centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) have secured a narrow win over outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservatives in national elections, with party leader Olaf Scholz claiming a “clear mandate” to form the government for the first time since 2005. SPD leader Olaf Scholz says he would like to form a coalition government with the Green party and Free Democratic Party (FDP). The climate crisis is likely to play a key role during the talks.
