G20 says climate action is critical, but only offer modest steps

The G20 summit wrapped up in Rome, with leaders making no firm commitment to keeping global warming at 1.5C. With the COP26 climate summit now underway, environmentalists had been hoping for a more significant breakthrough at the G20, where leaders of the world’s largest economies gathered. But as the meeting ended on Sunday, a tepid compromise was the order of the day, raising concerns about the task ahead to hammer out a deal at the climate conference.
