EU vows tougher sanctions on Russia over civilian killings in Bucha



The EU foreign policy chief said on Monday that the bloc is urgently discussing introducing tougher sanctions on Russia as it condemned “atrocities” reported in Ukrainian town of Bucha. Russia must be hit with the “maximum level” of sanctions for its atrocities in Ukraine, UK foreign secretary Liz Truss said on Monday as German chancellor Olaf Scholz said western allies would agree on further sanctions on Russia in the coming days over its invasion of Ukraine and the "atrocities" committed by Russian troops in Bucha. France on Monday said it would expel 35 Russian diplomats as part of a joint European action after Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. The European Union's foreign policy chief, said the bloc is working on drawing up additional sanctions 'as a matter of urgency'.
