Empowering women: Zimbabwe’s all-female mine provides work
Mining is usually a male-dominated industry. But Zimbaqua mine, located in a rural area in northern Zimbabwe, is the first of its kind in Africa to employ entirely a female workforce to dig up precious blue aquamarine gemstones. Its focus is on sustainable mining and empowering women in the region, most of them unemployed.
