El Salvador journalists, activists allege use of Pegasus spyware

Dozens of journalists and activists in El Salvador say military-grade spyware technology has been used to crack their phones. As many as 22 staff members at the prestigious news site El Faro say Pegasus software – sold only to governments – was used to harvest data from their devices. Government critics say it is the president's latest tactic to silence opposing voices.
