Critics say move to ban books in US is under way

Library associations and free speech groups say they are facing an unprecedented campaign to ban books in the US. Parents and school boards are objecting to a wide range of titles they claim sow division and induce distress in white students. But many of the lists of objectionable books circulating have come from groups funded by the national Republican Party, suggesting it is also a political issue being used to mobilise the electorate.
