COVID hospitalisations surge in Australia
Coronavirus cases are surging across Australia, thanks to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. The number of people in hospital in the state of New South Wales climbed to more than 1,000 on Sunday for the first time since October. The health system is buckling because rapid antigen tests are in short supply and laboratories cannot keep up with the sheer demand for tests.
