Brazil faces growing hunger crisis

Inflation, the pandemic and a lack of investment in social programs mean the number of people going hungry in Brazil is growing. President Jair Bolsonaro is trying to amend the constitution to allow him to spend more to address the problem. But critics say he is using poverty as an excuse to increase his own campaign budget before next year’s election. Polls show Bolsonaro is trailing behind former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
