Bangladesh: Schools in flood-hit northeast reopen

Schools have reopened in northeastern Bangladesh after the worst floods in a century. Tens of thousands of pupils have not been to class for weeks. The United Nations estimates nearly 20,000 people, including 3,000 children, are still living in temporary shelters. The government says it has already made plans to provide new books and educational materials. But for the families who have lost everything, it will take months, if not years, to rebuild their homes. And they need all the assistance they can get.
