Afghanistan’s minefields: Bomb disposal teams call for more funding



Decades of war in Afghanistan have left large parts of the country littered with unexploded ordnance and landmines that have taken a devastating toll on civilians, mostly children playing and farmers working their fields. Since the Taliban took over the country, Afghanistan’s international reserves have been frozen, leaving all initiatives strapped for cash. Local bomb disposal teams cannot complete their work, leading to fears that more people will die or be badly injured.
