Afghan women’s football team play first match in Qatar since Kabul exit

Afghanistan’s national women’s football team have played their first match since being evacuated from the capital, Kabul last month. They were among thousands of refugees flown to Qatar after the Taliban came to power in August. Although the Taliban has promised women in Afghanistan can participate in sports, female athletes say they are worried that this pledge will not be kept. The team hopes to stay together while they seek asylum in another country.
