Venezuela’s recent elections an improvement over past votes: EU

Venezuela’s elections were held under better conditions than those of previous contests, say European Union observers. But its head declined to say whether the vote was free and fair and noted that problems persisted. Sunday’s election was the first in nearly four years to include opposition figures despite some candidates being banned or having their names withdrawn.
