We Had a Dream | Democracy Maybe

From a civil rights activist to a leader of a far-right organisation, both sides are prepared to defend their version of American democracy, both convinced they are correct. This film explores the concept of identity politics and how it has created deep divisions in society which are becoming a threat to many democracies. Political scientist Larry Diamond considers whether the United States can continue to defend democracy globally without first eradicating its own inequality. And we ask: Is there hope for the future of democracy in a country so deeply divided, or is the US heading towards another civil war?
