Finland’s Sanna Marin faces tough challenge in re-election bid

Voters in Finland are casting their ballots to elect members of a new parliament in what opinion polls suggest will be tough competition for Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s Social Democrats Party (SDP) to keep its post. More than 2,400 candidates from 22 parties are vying for the 200 seats in the Nordic country’s parliament, the Eduskunta, on Sunday. Polling stations opened at 9am (06:00 GMT). Sanna Marin took power in 2019, becoming the world's youngest leader. But she's not popular with conservatives, who say she's been reckless with public spending. Three parties are neck-and-neck in the polls. Al Jazeera’s Rory Challands reports.
