Hong Kong security law: NGOs close, activists under pressure



At least 84 people have been prosecuted under the national security law imposed by Beijing on Hong Kong – including former legislators, professors and regular Hong Kongers. Human rights advocates say this changing political scene is having an impact on society in general. Since the law came into force, nearly 50 civil organisations have been disbanded. China introduced the sweeping Law in response to protests in 2019.
