Greenland: Farmers protest against rare earths mining plans



As the Greenlandic ice sheet melts, huge deposits of rare earth elements are being uncovered. These are vital in the production of low-carbon technologies – such as electric cars and wind turbines. But some farmers – worried about radioactive dust and waste water – are trying to block mining projects.
