Venezuelans continue to flee to Colombia in search of better life

Despite more stable economic conditions, Venezuelans continue to flee the country in search of a better life. Since the pandemic, growing inflation and economic hardships in Colombia convinced hundreds of thousands of migrant families to return to Venezuela last year. However, the latest report released by the Colombian government says that in just six months, between September 2021 and February 2022, 34 percent more Venezuelans have arrived, bringing the total number to 2.5 million. Colombia has now implemented a number of welcoming policies, including a temporary protection status to help people access services, education and formal jobs.
