Brazil president accused of trying to buy votes with $7bn welfare bill
The opposition has accused Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro of trying to buy votes, after convincing Congress to pass an emergency spending bill. The $7bn package will increase welfare payments until the end of the year. Polls have indicated that Bolsonaro is trailing challenger and former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva with just three months until elections.
