US Justice Department to review response to Texas school shooting

The US Justice Department will review the law enforcement response to the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 school children and two teachers dead, as President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden met families who lost loved ones in America’s worst school shooting in nearly a decade. The review comes amid mounting pressure and questions about the shifting, and at times contradictory, information about what happened and how police responded to the shooting last Tuesday at Robb Elementary School. US President Joe Biden – who has not spoken publicly about the police response to the shooting – tried on Sunday to comfort families in Uvalde. The president and first lady Jill Biden wiped away tears as they visited memorials at Robb Elementary, laying white roses and paying respects to makeshift shrines to the victims.
