Tanzania’s Abdulrazak Gurnah wins 2021 Nobel Prize in literature



The Nobel Prize for literature has just been awarded to a Tanzanian-born novelist, Abdulrazak Gurnah's. Gurnah's work focuses on colonialism and the fate of refugees. It is the first time a non-European or non-American has won the prize in more than 10 years. He arrived in the United Kingdom as a refugee aged 18 in the 1960s and has now retired from teaching English at the University of Kent.
