Iraq slums surge amid growing lawlessness, poverty
The number of slums in Iraq has increased in recent years due to lawlessness and growing poverty. Nearly 10 percent of Iraq’s population lives in them. The government says half a million houses and makeshift shelters have been built illegally, along with shops and business premises.
