US to declare 23 types of birds, fish and other species extinct

Government scientists in the United States have officially given up trying to find 23 species – declaring them all extinct. They include the ivory-billed woodpecker – which has attracted public attention several times over the years for unconfirmed sightings and 22 more birds, fish and other species.
