Lava from La Palma volcano reaches ocean nine days after eruption

Lava from a volcano on Spain's Canary Islands' La Palma has reached the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Scientists are warning a cloud of toxic vapour and gas will be released on contact with the sea. The lava flows could threaten La Palma island's rich biodiverse environment. Spain has declared the area a disaster zone, warning residents to get out of the way, more than a week after the eruption began.
