Ecuador’s indigenous patrol battle mining projects in Amazon Basin

Ecuador’s highest court has ruled that Indigenous communities must have more say over oil and mining projects that impact their land. The unpreceded ruling obliges the government to consult communities over projects and to seek their consent.
