Ukraine crisis: Russia, Belarus begin major joint military drills

The US State Department is urging Americans to leave Ukraine. President Joe Biden says he will not send troops to rescue Americans if Russia invades Ukraine. President Biden's warning comes as Russian and Belarusian troops begin joint military drills. NATO estimates 30,000 Russian soldiers are taking part, the largest deployment to the ex-Soviet state since the Cold War. The Kremlin says they will return to their permanent bases in Russia once the exercises finish. Western powers fear the drills could be used as an opportunity to attack Ukraine.
