Spectacular eruption from Mount Etna
Plumes of smoke some 8km high rise from a southeast crater of Italy's volcano Mount Etna following a brief eruption. Red lava flowed from the crater some 2,900 metres above sea level, but geologists in the area said activity had ceased by the evening.
