Honduras: Pandemic exacerbates an education system in decay



The coronavirus pandemic closed schools all over the world, including Latin America, but Honduras was hit particularly hard. After the shutdown, schools moved to remote learning but thousands of children were living in poverty with limited or no internet access. According to the World Bank, the pandemic set educational efforts in Honduras back by nearly five years, something newly elected President Xiomara Castro promises to make a top priority.
