Kazakh protests an attempted coup d’etat, claims president
The widespread unrest gripping Kazakhstan was an attempted coup, the country's president claimed on Monday. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added his security services would never shoot peaceful protesters. Last week he authorised them to use lethal force to stop the unrest.
