Venezuela set for election rerun in Chavez’s home state of Barinas
The Venezuelan state of Barinas has highlighted the creeping loss of support for the ruling government of Nicolas Maduro. Barinas will vote in a rerun for state governor on Sunday. The governing socialist party won the vote in most states, but in Barinas when residents turned up in droves for the opposition candidate Freddy Superlano – the Supreme Court later retroactively disqualified him. In the running in the rerun are opposition candidates Sergio Garrido and Claudio Fermin and Jorge Arreaza, a former foreign minister.
